Impressionism!

(A Monet painting, one of the best impressionist artists in my opinion =] )

Futurism
-a movement that began in Italy during the early 1900s
-Marinetti hated all previously established traditions
-love for technology, anything that represented the triumph of man over nature
-a movement that took place within all art forms; a chain reaction- Filippo T. Marinetti was founder, painters were inspired by him, and so on
-equally important movement in Russia without fascist elements that Italy had rather with a revolutionary spirit of the new Soviet Union

Haiku
-Japanese form of poetry (from Japanese words for “amusement” and “verse”)
-usually written in 3 lines that don’t rhyme with 17 total syllables
-lines of 5, then 7, then 5 syllables
-example: The sound of the little waterfall
for a while I am surprised
I continue to hear it
-Small but complete with emotion and pictures
-usually focused on nature

Impressionism
-began with art and moved into the music and literary worlds
-in literature impressionism is applied more loosely than in art
-conveys a mood or a characterization subjectively
-Virginia Woolf is one of the more popular impressionist writers (what a coincidence, did we not just read something by her?)
-Woolf is one of the “foremost creators” of this form
-According to Wikipedia: The term is used to describe a work of literature characterized by the selection of a few details to convey the sense of impressions left by an incident or scene. This style of writing occurs when characters, scenes, or actions are portrayed from a subjective point of view of reality.

I like the visuals. All three pictures are really pretty.
