Trust Me, I'm Virtuous

In an appeal to ethics, writers attempt to persuade their readers by highlighting their own good character or the supposed superiority of the position for which they are arguing. An argumentative essay that appeals to ethics (ethos) might use phrases like you can trust me and the virtuous position is.

Write five sentences that appeal to ethics.

I can feel your pain, I know where you come from, I can understand you.

Writing is one of those things that just doesn't come to everybody, they need inspiration. It is our job to help each other with that inspiration.

Protecting the people is something that is neccessary, and I will give my life to do so.

We can change the world, but one person can only make so much difference. We must stand together.

As an inhabitant of the planet Earth, Global Warming not only affects us, but the things around us, which in turn affects us even greater.

As a scientist, there is no concievable way that I can truly support both scientific progress and religion. Religion throws up a stopping block to the progression of science. As a scientist I see ways to progress our position in the world. This is not to say that scientists are immoral, merely that they have fewer boundaries, fewer restrictions on what we believe can be done; science can solve many problems but is stopped by the conservative, confined, and restricted minds of religious enthusists.

Speaking from the point of view of someone who portrays other human beings for my livelihood, I can give you my solemn vow that this is not a case of acting; this is a wonderful display of honesty.

Having attended a Catholic school myself, I cannot help but be impressed by the impeccable morals being shown by the Republican party.

Being a strong believer in ethical treatment myself, I am proud to state my support for Barrack Obama in the upcoming election.

A proud alumni of the School of the Arts INTERACT program, danger to our envirnonment has always been a very important issue to me, and I am made ill by John McCain's disconcern for it.

I have been riding horses for seven years, therefore, my love for animals should not come as any large surprise. This is why I think it is important to take larger steps to promoting the ethical treatment of animals everywhere.

As a fellow American, I come from the same society that all of you are a part of. It is no wonder, then, that I am upset by the same things that all of you are upset by and that I rejoice in the same things that all of you rejoice in. It has come to my attention, as a member of this highly motivated and notoriously driven country, that we have been confronted with a terrible environmental conflict. Every american has come to terms with the inevitably high gas prices that we have been forced to pay. We must stop and think, like so many of those who have come before us have done. If America is to remain the most powerful nation on earth, we must take advantage of the variety of intellect and resources that we are famous for. Let's use science to make ourselves energy efficient! Together we can become the first oil-independant country in the world.
